Challenge

More than half of people in prisons may have had a serious brain injury, compared to less than 1 in 10 of people in the general population. Behavioural issues associated with criminality are often linked to brain trauma. By identifying, acknowledging and supporting these individuals, recidivism and reoffending rates can be lessened, resulting in staggering social and economic benefits.

Solution

We felt immense responsibility to convey what it felt like for Jade and Satman in an authentic manner. Knowing that speech can be impaired in brain injury suffers, we explored art therapy as an effective tool of communication.

Impact

This illustrates the impact of brain injury in a way no statistic could do. The film was quite a departure for us. It presents brain injury in a bold, compelling, fresh way with cut through; this can only help us in changing the perceptions and behaviours of practitioners, and beyond.
