Challenge

The NSPCC believe that going online should be a positive experience for all children. But the internet can be a difficult place to navigate - knowing the real from fake, avoiding negative content, or what to do if a mistake is made. They launched the ‘Positively Online’ campaign to help children & adults feel good about using the internet. NSPCC approached us to create the films for the website & social media to help parents & guardians understand how to start conversations about online wellbeing.

Solution

Working closely with NSPCC, we crafted two creative concepts to spark meaningful conversation and bring the subject matter to life: Let’s Play - Spin the Wheel:  - A fun, authentic learning activity with a strong emphasis on talking and relationships. Let’s Reflect - On the Sofa:  An open, candid in conversation piece where families reflect on the learnings from the spin the wheel game, the Online Wellbeing Tips, what Online Healthy Habits look like to them and make promises for the future.

Impact

2 weeks after it went live, the YouTube videos had over 1 mil views, with 282,000 watching the videos in full.By week 4, NSPCC had 16K unique page views (+40% from the previous week) on the landing page. Months after the Positively Online campaign went live, the Online Safety Bill passed its final Parliamentary debate and since become law as The Online Safety Act 2023 - a new set of laws that protects children and adults online “We wanted to create something that was informed, approachable and supportive; which is exactly what we ended up with...It was a joy, to work on this project and see the original idea come to light. “ - NSPCC Client
