Challenge
HSBC was undergoing a significant change programme around conduct which was a top priority for 2020. They commissioned us to produce a suite of films featuring personal conduct stories from senior leaders to help colleagues to understand the importance of speaking up when they witness something untoward or underhand. Each subject was in a different country, so it was essential all the films were unified in their visual style, feel and tone.
Solution
We wanted to avoid jargon, technical details and corporate-feeling talking heads – instead opting for personal, honest and candid stories. We set about shooting interviews in diverse locations to create elevated b-roll. By taking the interviewees out of the office environment, speakers were more comfortable and opened. The key was that the stories felt very open and that, despite their seniority, speakers were willing to be vulnerable and show their human side.
